Kata Beach & Karon Beach Phuket
Kata Beach & Karon Beach Hotels and Tourist Information
Kata Beach.com your local guide to one of Phuket's great beach destinations. We'll bring you up to date information about coming attractions, hotels and restaurants from our team right here in Phuket.
Located on Phuket's lovely west coast, Kata really does have all the elements of a perfect holiday. A small village with just enough restaurants, bars and local colour to keep your interest, Kata's main attraction is its curving wide sandy beach, providing masses of room to accommodate water sports like hobie cat sailing, parasending, snorkeling and fishing.
Surrounded by high mountains which separate it from the other west coast beaches, Kata retains a more laid back character than neighbouring Patong and more attractions than Karon. Small guesthouses, low rise resorts, street cafes serving European favourites, local Thai restaurants, specialist shops and low key music bars line the narrow main streets. Hidden away, Kata also has some excellent Gourmet restaurants with superb views over the Andaman Sea and food guaranteed to delight the most discerning palate. At night browse the local specialty shops for hand made shoes, Indian imports, some snazzy beachwear or the latest DVD.
Laid back but never boring, Kata is probably one of the nicest beaches in Phuket.

This is one of the few places in Phuket that has absolute beachfront hotels (no road in between). Alternatively, see our complete list of Kata Beach Hotels or check out our current best deals below. Kata Beach lies south of Patong on Phuket's west coast. The shopping area stands back from the beach. Kata offers quite a varied selection of shopping opportunities for visitors and, although somewhat sleepy during the day (everyone's on the beach), many souvenir shops open in the early afternoon and shop owners are there to barter with until late at night. Relaxed and laid back, Kata provides a complete contrast to the hectic pace of Patong. Bordered by rocky headlands, Kata consists of 2 gently curving bays, Kata Yai and Kata Noi. The main beach, Kata Yai, offers two kilometres of white sand beach fringed by shady trees, while Kata Noi the smaller of the two, offers tranquility and seclusion. Read More...
