What to Do in Kata Beach & Karon Beach

Kata and Karon beaches, as well as Kata Noi just south of Kata, are hives of activity from December to May when the sea is calm and as clear as gin. The rest of the year the central section of Kata Beach is good for surfing, as are sections of Karon and Kata Noi. You'll see paragliders, parasailing, windsurfing, boogie boards and divers here and the whole atmosphere is more family orientated than Patong up the road.

Relaxed and laid back, Kata provides a complete contrast to the hectic pace of Patong. Bordered by rocky headlands, Kata consists of two gently curving bays, Kata Yai and Kata Noi.
